Welcome to Paper Inkspirations!

Hi! My name is Krissy, welcome to my blog. I have been an avid paper-crafter for many years, my addiction started with scrapbooking and has evolved to card-making. It all started when I realized that I had forgotten to buy a card for my nephew's birthday. Looking at my ever-expanding collection of scrapbook supplies, I thought I'd made a card for him. Since then, I've been hooked on card-making and my scrapbooks have been collecting dust. Someday I'll get back to them... I have two beautiful boys and a wonderful & supportive husband and I work at the Preschool at our church. When I'm not spending time with my family or making cards, I enjoy being active in our church. Life is good! Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy your visit.

Take time to get inky today....

Stampendous December Color Challenge

It's the first Saturday of the month again, and that means that the Stampendous team is playing along with a NEW monthly challenge again! This month we are playing with a color challenge…to use pink, cream, gold, and/or brown in a card or project. The colors can be by way of papers, coloring implements, inks, and/or any of the fabulous Stampendous Essentials. If you've been stuck in a traditional holiday color mode, this is your opportunity to think outside the Christmas crayon box! Please join us in our challenge this month, and link your creation(s) to the InLinkz located on the Stampendous Impressions' blog (or any team member's blog post that has the collection at the bottom). You don't have to use Stampendous images and/or products on your designs…but we sure love it when you do! You have until January 5, 2012 at 11:59 PM EST to enter your creation, for the opportunity to be the one lucky random winner to receive this fabulous Stampendous prize, the Amore Frames Perfectly Clear set.

Here's my card for this week's challenge.  I've had a version of this card in my mind for a couple of weeks.  When I sat down to work on it, though, it just wasn't clicking for me and I was getting so frustrated!  Then, all of the sudden, it all came together, and I have to say I'm really happy with the outcome!  Unfortunately, today was an overcast day and the sun wasn't shining that much, so it was tough to get a good picture.  (That's what I get for waiting until the last minute!)  Anyway.....it's hard to tell in this photo, but I added pearl stickers to this pretty lady, she was screaming for some bling!  I thought she needed a string of pearls around her neck.  Oh, and incase you're wondering, the background is the Imperial Jewel stamp that I stamped 4 times.  Each time I let half of the stamp hang off of the edge of the cardstock, and all 4 of the images come together in the center of the card, under the little lady.

recipe:  Stampendous Imperial Jewel, Deco Lady, Detail Gold Embossing Powder; VersaMark Ink; Recollections ivory cards, ivory card stock, Clear Bark EP, pearl stickers; Tim Holtz Spun Sugar Distress Ink; Prismacolor Pencils, Goo-Gone, Tortillons; Sheer ivory ribbon; oval cutter

OK, I'm done talking now.  Now what are you waiting for?  Take a few minutes to check out all the beautiful creations by my fellow team members and then it's your turn to get inky and play along with our challenge.  Here's a list of this week's players - I'm sure you're in for a real treat - they are all so talented!

Encrusted Treasure Hop/Chipboard Challenge

Welcome to the Stampendous "Fran•tage Encrusted Jewel Hop"! All of us on the Stampendous Design Teams are sooo excited about this new technique...an accidental creative process discovered by our own Fran Seiford, Chief Artistic Officer at Stampendous! There is a quote that says, "There are no mistakes, just opportunities for embellishment!" How true is that? Today our super-creative-with-mistakes designers are excited to show you how you can deliberately create with gorgeous sloppiness. For more info on the process of Encrusting with the Fran•tage Essentials, check out the YouTube video HERE. Here's the list of our Encrusted Hoppers for today:

As you hop from blog to blog, oohing and aahing over the Encrusted Jewel fabulousness, be sure to leave some love (and your contact email) for the designers, as well as on the Stampendous blog. Your comments are your insurance that you have an opportunity to win one of four blog candy goody boxes of Stampendous Fran•tage Essentials for you to create your own Encrusted Jewel goodness (US winners only):

 Aged Black Prize Package

Aged Silver Prize package

 Aged Gold Prize Package

 Shabby White Prize Package

OK!  You ready to see what I created?  I decided to step out of my comfort zone this week and instead of making a card, I made a vellum candle shade.  I love the way this turned out!  Along the top edge of the vellum, I stamped the flourish from the Cling Jumbo Peony with VersaMark ink.  It's kind of hard to see, but I really like the way a watermark looks on vellum.  I then stamped just the Eiffel Tower from Eiffel Noel and embossed it with Detail Gold EP.  On the reverse side of the image, I colored the holly, berries and poinsettias with my Prismacolor pencils.  I attached the shade to a piece of chipboard that I embossed with Detail Gold EP and then added Shaved Ice around the base to mimic snow.  This was the first time I used Shaved Ice and it won't be my last!  It was "snow" much fun!  I placed a battery operated tealight inside and VOILA!

Alright, my time here is done....it's time for you to get hopping!  I'm sure you're in for some real treats from this uber-talented group of gals!  Prepare to be wowed!!!  After checking out all of the encrusted goodness, be sure to watch Fran's video and then take time to get inky!

I recently was introduced to Pinterest and now I'm hopelessly hooked.  I found this pin earlier.....it is one of my favorite quotes.  I had to share it with you...

I hope you'll all take time today to do all of the above and to get inky!  I'll be back soon!

Chipboard Challenge

It's Saturday again, and that means the Stampendous team is playing along with our monthly challenge again! This month we are playing with chipboard. There are SO many different ways to use it - paint it, distress it, emboss it, stamp on it, give it some texture......you get the idea!

I used a chipboard snowflake (two, actually) on my card.  I decided to emboss the snowflakes using my favorite Stampendous embossing powders.  The bottom snowflake is heat embossed with Blue Blaze EP and the top snowflake was embossed twice.  The first layer is Winter Wonderland EP and then on top of that I used Stardust EP.  I added a cute little silver snowflake brad to the center of the snowflakes.

recipe: Stampendous  Penguin WishesWinter Wonderland EPDetail White EPStardust EP; Martha Stewart Stars Border Punch; Sizzix Snowflake die; Michaels Silver Snowflake Brad; Prismacolor Pencils; Paper Pizzazz DP; Versamarker

Here's a list of the other team members who are playing along with this challenge.  Take a few moments to check out what they've created!

This month we are giving away a Cling Jumbo Songbird set to a random winner. You don't have to use a Stampendous image or products to play along, but we sure love it when you do! Stampendous CAS Challenge

Today is the last Saturday that some of  the Stampendous design team members will be posting cards for this month's CAS (Clean and Simple) Holiday Challenge.  CAS has never been easy for me, I always feel like my cards are missing something....but this month I have tried to "embrace simplicity".  The card I made today is very simple and actually coordinates with a CAS this card I made earlier in the month.  I really like the way the blue embossing powder looks against the white card.

recipe:  Stampendous Traveling Far, Joy of the Journey; Recollections Blank Notecards; VersaMark Ink; Recollections Sapphire Pearl Embossing Powder; Marvy Heat Tool

I was a little sneaky with the Stampendous sentiment I used on this card.  The Joy of the Journey stamp was actually originally designed for use as a friendship greeting with some of the summer images of boats and beaches.  The full sentiment reads "The joy of the journey is best measured by the friends not the miles."  It's really a lovely friendship sentiment, but I thought it also paired well with this Traveling Far stamp depicting the Three Wisemen on their journey to Bethlehem.  What a joyful journey that must have been!  So, I inked up just the portion of the stamp that reads "The joy of the journey".  That's the great thing about stamps, you can ink of any or all of it!  It's up to you!

All of the supplies used to make this card are available at Michaels.  This would be an easy card to mass produce, if you're like me and haven't even given a thought to Christmas cards yet this year!  Or, this card paired with my earlier coordinating card would make a nice gift set.  One trip to Michaels and you are all set to get inky!

Now, are you ready to see what else our fab design team has created for your CAS viewing pleasure??? Here's a list of the blogs you have to check out....you're sure to be inspired!

Now it's your turn to play along.  Our challenge to you this month is to join us in making CAS holiday cards. We want to help you get into the holiday spirit, so this month we are giving away a Cling Jumbo Sparkle Joy set to a random winner. You don't have to use a Stampendous image or products to play along, but we sure love it when you do! You have until Thursday, November 3 at 11:59 PM EST to add your link to the linky tool, and we'll draw a random winner. You can enter as many times as you'd like.

Hope all is well in your corner of the world and that you'll take time to get inky today.

Haunty Halloween Hop

Are you ready for the Haunty Halloween Hop?????  If you've arrived here from Jingle's blog, you're in the right place.  You're in for a lot of "spooky goodness" as you hop along with us.  There are a bunch of us playing along, be sure to leave a comment at every blog, because you just never know from which blog posts the winners will be chosen.  Winners???  Absolutely!  We have a bunch of great sponsors and they have offered some really great prizes!  After the winners are chosen, you will have one week to claim your prize.  You have until Wednesday, October 26th at 8pm EST to post your comments.

I had a lot of fun making this card.  It's the first time I've made one of these treat holders.  I found a great tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers.  I'll be making more of these in the future!  What a fun way to give a few Hershey's Nuggets as a little gift.  I've also seen these with tea light candles in the treat box, I think I might make those for Thanksgiving.  Stay tuned!

recipe:  Stampendous Costume Kids Perfectly Clear Stamp Set; Tsukineko Sparkle Shimmer Sprits; Tsukineko Tuxedo Black Ink; Prismacolor Pencils, Goo Gone, Tortillons; Bazzill Classic Purple Card stock; Bella Blvd. Too Cute to Spook Quadrants; Tim Holtz Distress Ink Dusty Concord; Sakura Clear Star pen; miscellaneous ribbon; Best Occasions Rhinestones

I love this little Dracula from the Stampendous Costume Kids set.  I know Drac usually has black hair, but I thought I'd make him look like my little blondie.  The tag that I slipped in the pocket simply reads "Happy Halloween".  To jazz it up, I sponged the edges with Concord Distress Ink and then spritzed it with sparkle spray.

OK!  Enough of my talking, it's time for you to get hopping.  Your next stop is the amazing Alison!  Have fun and Happy Halloween!

Just incase you get lost along the way, here's a list of all of the hoppers.

Thought you might want to know what our generous sponsors have offered as prizes....you won't want to miss out on these treats so be sure to leave comments at every blog stop.  We have TONS of fabulous Halloween prizes from our wonderful sponsors!

Desert Islands Crafts Challenge

Hi friends!  I'm excited to have been asked to join the girls over at Desert Island Crafts Challenge.  It's a fun challenge.  Every other week, they post an "itinerary" of 10 items, we all choose at least 3 of those items and make a card.  How fun!  This week, the challenge is sponsored by Simply Betty Stamps, unfortunately I don't own any of her stamps (yet) and didn't have a chance to order any since our family has all had nasty colds this week.  When you get a chance, check out Betty's website, she has some really fun images.

So, here's the itinerary for this week...
1 Halloween
2 SBS Image

3 Favourite Colour
4 Found Object
5 Candy colours
6 Not Square
7 Stripes
8 Shades of Grey
9 Bats & Spiders
10 The UnDead

I chose to work with items 1,5,6,7,8 and 9 (well, part of 9 - just the spiders).  Here's my card...

recipe:  Stampendous Hang Out Spider;  Recollections Jewel Paper Pack; Bella Blvd Too Cute to Spook Quadrants, Itsy Bitsy Spider; Tsukineko Tuxedo Black; Prismacolor Pencils, Goo Gone, Tortillons; Darice Hemp Cord; Glitter embossing powder; MAMBI Bling

Head over to the Desert Island Craft Challenge blog for more info and to see what everyone else has created!

Thanks to the DICC girls for letting me play along....I'm looking forward to the next itinerary!  Don't forget to check out the Stampendous blog today for the latest posts for the CAS challenge.  The Stampendous girls WOW me every week!
Ok, I'm outta here!  Hope everyone has a great day and that you'll take time to get inky today!

CAS Joyeux Noel

It's Saturday again, and that means the Stampendous team is playing along with our monthly challenge again! This month we are looking towards the holidays AND trying to keep it Clean and Simple. That's right - we are making Clean and Simple (CAS) holiday cards!!

I think everyone's idea of CAS is different....to me, it means lots of white space and no embellishments.  But, this time I tried something new!  I used Kraft card stock for my base and decided that this card needed some ribbon.  What do you think?

recipe:  Stampendous Eiffel Noel; Tsukineko Tuxedo Black ink; Prismacolor Pencils; Bazzill Kraft Card stock; Michaels Sheer Green ribbon

When I first received this stamp, Eiffel Noel, from Stampendous I kind of had mixed emotions about it.  I liked it, I just didn't think it was my "style" and it wasn't speaking to me (please tell me I'm not the only one whose stamps speak to them!).  But, I bit the bullet, and inked it up for this challenge.  I'm pleased to say I now LOVE IT!!!!  It was fun to color and I really had fun working with it.  I think most people think poinsettias should be red, but I colored mine white because I carried white poinsettias, holly berries, red roses and evergreens in my bouquet at our Christmas wedding 11 years ago.  Without the ribbon this card just looked "blah", but once I added that touch of sheer green ribbon VOILA!

I hope you'll be inspired to ink up a stamp that you think isn't you style....give it a try, you may be surprised like I was!  If you'd like to make a card like this one, all the supplies are available at Michaels.

Stampendous CAS Challenge

It's the first Saturday of the month, and that means it's time again for a new challenge with the Stampendous team! If you've arrived here from Cyndi's blog you're in the right spot.  Isn't she amazing?  I'm always inspired by her beautiful creations!

This month, to kick thing off and celebrate World Card Making Day, we are looking towards the holidays AND trying to keep it Clean and Simple. That's right - we are making Clean and Simple (CAS) holiday cards!! You'll see a few team members showing off more than one card today; some chose to make one CAS and then take that design and showcase how to "step it up". Others chose to make sets of CAS holiday cards that could be given as gifts or used to make a dent in the Christmas card list.

Personally, I have a hard time with CAS cards.  I start with good intentions, but always think they need just "a little something more" and before I know it I've left the CAS card I hoped for in the dust.  But this time I think I did it.  It was tough, but I did it.  The best part about this card is that it would be easy to mass produce if you're like me and usually wait until the last minute.  The other great thing about this card is everything needed to make it is available at Michaels.  One stop shopping!

Rhubarb's Harvest Blessings

I'm back again today with another Rhubarb card.  I love this little guy from Sweet n' Sassy Stamps.  This little bundle of love is from the Rhubarb's Autumn Joys stamp set.  It is the cutest set and I have had so much fun working with it this month!  Not only are the images adorable, there are a bunch of great sentiments included also.

While I'm here I have to thank Korin at Sweet n' Sassy Stamps for giving me this opportunity to work with her wonderful stamps.  And thanks to Taylor for taking a chance on me and asking me to be a Guest Designer for the month.  Just because my month is up, that doesn't mean this is the last you'll see of these great stamps - Rhubarb will be back!  He's just too cute to resist!  Hopefully, he will soon be joined by more of his friends from SNSS.  I'm hoping to add Rubarb's buddy Cocoa to my stamp collection soon.  That little mouse is just so stinkin' cute!

That's all I have for you today, friends.  I hope you'll take time to get inky today and that you'll kick back with a cup of tea and take a look at the Sweet n' Sassy Stamps website.  I'm sure you'll find many stamps that are calling your name.  Korin has done a beautiful job designing the stamp sets, there is a great selection and she has included some really great sentiments.  Her scripture stamps are beautiful and so many of them are on my ever-expanding wish list.  What better way to spread The Word than with a gorgeous stamped card?

Hope all is well in your corner of the world.  Take time to get inky today.

Thankful Rhubarb

I have been having so much fun working with these adorable Rhubarb images.  He is just the cutest little bear!  Sweet n' Sassy Stamps just released a bunch of beautiful new stamps and other goodies - be sure to check out the website to see the latest additions to their collection.  I can tell you my wish list is growing and growing!!!

This card was so much fun to put together.  I actually used supplies I still had out on my table from my last project.  Can you believe that I didn't even have to trim the patterned papers down?  They were already the perfect sizes - I guess it was all meant to be!  I'm not sure yet who this card is for, but I'm sure someone special will love to see this cute little guy waiting for them in their mailbox.

Well friends, that's all I have to share today.  I hope things are well in your corner of the world and that you take time today to not only get inky, but that you will listen to Rhubarb and take time to "be thankful".

Rhubarb's Autumn Joy

I am so excited to have been chosen to be a Guest Designer for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps this month!  Korin has really great stamps to choose from, her images are so cute and she has chosen beautiful sentiments and scriptures to accompany them.  Take a few minutes and take a peek at their website.

After checking out all of the stamps she offers, I finally settled on this adorable bear!  Meet Rhubarb....isn't he just the cutest?  This image and sentiment are from a set called Rhubarb's Autumn Joys.  The set includes three images and a great assortment of sentiments for Fall.  You'll be seeing more from this set this month.  Stay tuned!

I had so much fun working with this image.  This card is already in the mailbox, waiting to be sent to my Aunt Kathie for her birthday.  In fact, Aunt Kathie was the reason I chose this stamp set - she loves teddy bears and I thought this Autumn set would be perfect for her September birthday.
 Happy Birthday, Aunt Kathie!

Well friends, I better get going.  I hope all is well in your corner of the world.  Take time to get inky today!

Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Guest Designer

Guess who's been named Guest Designer for September at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps?!?!?!?!  ME, that's who!!!  I'm so excited and can hardly wait to get their adorable stamps good and inky!  Stay tuned.....

Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps blog

Embossed Flower Fields

Hi!  Remember me???  Allow me to introduce myself....I'm Krissy....I know it's been forever since I posted.  Life has been crazy around our home lately.  But, now that I've gotten the boys back into the school routine I will have more time to get inky!  Woo-hoo!!!!!!!!   My oldest started 2nd grade last week  and my youngest (my baby!) began Kindergarten.  It's been an adjustment for all of us, getting back into the swing of a morning routine and getting them on and off of the bus and then dinner, homework and bedtime.  It's been strange for me having both of them gone all day, I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually, but right now it's still strange being home alone.  More time to get inky though, right?

This is one of the cards I've created for Stampendous and Michaels stores.  It's the first time I've used more than one colored embossing powder at a time.  It was so much fun to mix and match!!!  I have one tip for you, though.  After you stamp the image with the Versamark ink sprinkle one of the embossing powders very lightly to use as a guideline as to where the flowers and stems are located.  Then apply the remaining colors more liberally covering the image completely.   For some more tips and techniques on how to use Stampendous embossing powders, watch some of Fran's videos on You Tube.  All the supplies used to make this card are available at your local Michaels store!

I hope you'll come back tomorrow and check out the Stampendous Saturday Challenge.  It's going to be so much fun!  Our wonderful Wendy Price has created a great sketch and many of the Stampendous team members are playing along.  We hope you will too!

I'll be back next week with more cards.  Whatever your plans are for the long Labor Day weekend, I hope you and your family have a wonderful time with family and friends - be safe!

Take time to get inky today!
