When I first started with paper crafting, I was a scrapbooker. I LOVED scrapbooking. I went to crops once a month, I went to my consultant's home for private scrap time, I brought my supplies to work with me and scrapped during my lunch hour. And then I forgot to buy a birthday card for my nephew's 2nd birthday. I figured I could make him a birthday card with all of my scrapbooking supplies. Well, that's about the time my scrapbook days ended. I discovered that I LOVED making cards! Since then, my scrapbooks have been collecting dust. I'm hoping to blow the dust off and start working on them again this summer.
I have to admit I was a bit intimidated and overwhelmed at the thought of making a scrapbook page after all these years. I think I'm really late jumping on the Project Life bandwagon. I see blog posts everywhere that talk about Project Life, but something about all of those little pockets always seemed overwhelming to me. Well, today it was time to step out of my comfort zone. And guess what? I had fun!!!
I discovered that the problem was finding pictures to scrap. It seems that when I stopped scrapbooking, I also stopped printing my photos. I have them all saved on Shutterfly, but I haven't had any printed in years. I think it's time to finally drop the cold, hard cash and just do it.
The pictures I did find were from Christmas 2011. We took these pictures before we headed to church for the Christmas Pageant. TJ, our oldest, was so excited to be wearing his new Christmas tie and could hardly wait to get to church to start singing.
I cut green card stock into 6"x6" squares and stamped the Stampendous Christmas Background on each panel with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Detail Clear Embossing Powder. Then I embellished each panel differently using Detail Gold Embossing Powder and the Fran•táge Mica Kit. Here's a closer look at each individual panel...
Can you tell TJ is just a *little* excited?
Me and the love of my life.
My sweet boys.
LOVE these Mica flakes!
Such handsome guys!
Love the way the clear embossing makes the background "pop".
Well! That was all a mouthful! If you're still here with me, thank you for hanging in there! Before you leave, I have to remind you to check out the Project Life posts that my teammates have for you today.
ALSO....be sure to stop back soon. I'll have lots of new stuff to show you! All of the new Stampendous products will be making their appearance at Michaels on May 1st and I can't wait to share it all with you! I think I'll even have a giveaway on May 1st to celebrate. I've got quite a stash of great Stampendous stuff to share with one lucky person! You won't want to miss this! Stay tuned!
OK...I think I'm done now! *PHEW*
I hope all is well in your corner of the world and that you will take time to get inky today!

Great layout, color, embossing and those MICA flakes !!!
'Mama, don't let your babies grow up to be jpegs'...too funny, sometimes I think I need to start using my supplies for Scrapbook pages instead of cards...then I get busy making cards again...I wish my picture taking skills had been better when my kids were young then it would be more fun to scrapbook. Cute kids, love the tie!
I like your stamping and embossing on the green panels--really makes them special.

My gosh what a darling family you have. And I just think it is really cute how he was so excited to wear his new tie to church. What great kids you have. Great page and I love the backgrounds you did. I too went into all of this thinking "scrap-booking" but my true love became cards. Hugs, Curt
