Welcome to Paper Inkspirations!

Hi! My name is Krissy, welcome to my blog. I have been an avid paper-crafter for many years, my addiction started with scrapbooking and has evolved to card-making. It all started when I realized that I had forgotten to buy a card for my nephew's birthday. Looking at my ever-expanding collection of scrapbook supplies, I thought I'd made a card for him. Since then, I've been hooked on card-making and my scrapbooks have been collecting dust. Someday I'll get back to them... I have two beautiful boys and a wonderful & supportive husband and I work at the Preschool at our church. When I'm not spending time with my family or making cards, I enjoy being active in our church. Life is good! Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy your visit.

Take time to get inky today....

Itching to Etch

This week the Stampendous Design Team is using Stampendous stamps and embossing powders along with Armor Etch Glass Etching Cream to create some beautiful home decor items.  I've wanted to try glass etching for a few years, but I was always a bit intimidated.  Well, this week, I finally had my chance!

You might wonder how stamping and glass etching work together.  Well, in a nutshell, first you stamp your image on clean glass and heat emboss with Detail Embossing Powder.  Use any color, it will all be washed away eventually anyway.  Then you apply your Armor Etch Cream and let sit for about 5 minutes.  Wash off etching cream and embossing powder with hot water.  The stamped image will be clear glass while everything else will have a soft frosted look.  It's so cool!  Here's a link to a great etched project, my teammate, Kristine, made for Michaels.  Oh, and speaking of Michaels, you can by Armor Etch there!

For my project, I started with a small candle that I had in the kitchen.  I stamped one of the sides from the Foliate Quad Cube then heat embossed it and applied the etching cream.  A few minutes later and VOILA!  I have a cute candle for the coffee table.  I have to say that I probably would use a pre-filled candle next time.  The candle started to melt when I used the heat gun to melt the embossing powder.  Oh well....live and learn.  I can't wait to see what this looks like when the candle starts to burn down and you can see the flame through the etched area.

Well, that's all I have for you today.  Be sure to stop by again tomorrow for our big Stampendous and Armor Etch Blog Hop.  In the meantime, we have a few more projects to share with you.  Check out the following blogs for more inspiration.

It really turned out lovely!! I have a larger holder in my bathroom that would work really well for this technique. I'll have to give it a try.
